A Trimble Case Study
NZPGS, a New Zealand specialist in environmental dredging and marine geophysics, was contracted to help remediate the dioxin-contaminated Kopeopeo Canal. The project required highly accurate underwater positioning and 3D visualization to safely remove contaminated sediment while meeting strict decontamination and reporting requirements.
Working with SITECH NZ, NZPGS deployed Trimble Marine Construction (TMC) software, the GCS900 grade-control system, HYDROpro surveys, Trimble Business Center - HCE and iBase for RTK corrections. The system gives operators real-time, color-coded 3D guidance to dredge to design depths, enabling precise removal, on-schedule progress (about 580 m completed to date of a 5.1 km section), planned removal of ~40,000 m3, and streamlined as-built reporting and project transparency via Trimble tools and Dropbox.
