Case Study: Beijing Daxing Airport achieves efficient, accurate, and safer soil compaction with Trimble

A Trimble Case Study

Preview of the Beijing Daxing Airport Case Study

New Airport’s Queenly Curves Rest on a Firm Foundation

Trimble provided the digital construction solution for Beijing Daxing Airport’s massive ground-preparation challenge: engineering a uniform, deeply compacted base across a 2,400 ha flight zone to support the world’s largest single terminal. Beijing New Airport Headquarters (BNAH) required tightly controlled, auditable methods for dynamic, impact and vibration compaction, field supervision, vehicle tracking and software integration—specifications that only Trimble’s integrated systems could meet.

Trimble deployed GNSS-guided DPS900 dynamic compaction, CCS900 on-machine compaction control, Business Center - HCE and a web-based Construction Information System to guide hammer drops stakelessly, record every action in real time and manage machine coverage, speed and quality. The result was faster, more consistent compaction with fewer personnel onsite, improved safety, reduced rework and comprehensive, auditable reports that met BNAH’s quality and documentation requirements—prompting wider deployment across the project.
