A Trimble Case Study
The Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) manages 4,450 km2 of watershed in Ontario and runs a City Stream Watch program that monitors urban shorelines for water clarity, pH, fish, vegetation and other conditions. Field crews originally recorded observations on pen and paper while wading streams—a workflow that risked wet or lost pages and introduced errors during manual transcription and GIS interpretation.
To solve this, MVCA adopted Trimble’s TerraFlex mobile app on water‑resistant Trimble Juno handhelds, creating digital forms, capturing geo‑referenced photos and sampling every 50 m. Data syncs automatically to the cloud (including offline sync), cutting hours of processing, improving location accuracy and data quality, and enabling faster, better‑informed watershed management decisions.
