Mechanical Contractor Pushes Design-Build Envelop at Brown University

Arden Engineering Constructors, an HVAC/mechanical contractor, was selected to work on Brown University’s new $78M, 80,000‑square‑foot engineering building—Brown’s first integrated project delivery (IPD) effort involving seven firms. The challenge was to provide the technology and workflow to design in 3D, coordinate among multiple stakeholders, and collaborate in real time on a fast‑track schedule.

Arden implemented Trimble SysQue for Revit MEP combined with the A360 platform and a centralized cloud model, enabling Revit designs with manufacturing‑specific content that’s ready for fabrication and live model updates visible in minutes. The approach kept the project on track for fall 2017 completion, reinforced Arden’s 3D engineering and fabrication capabilities, and led to Arden winning three additional Brown University projects.
