A Trimble Case Study
KRS Electric, a family‑owned electrical contractor in Utah serving commercial, industrial and utility clients, faced persistent challenges with underground layout work—moving dirt, coordinating with plumbing and other trades, and locating buried fittings. Traditional tools like drones, robotic total stations and tape measures sometimes left measurements off by as much as three feet, so the team sought a faster, more accurate approach to reduce rework and site conflicts.
KRS adopted the Trimble X7 3D Laser Scanner with Trimble FieldLink on a rugged T10 tablet, enabling quick, colorized scans that register in real time and integrate with their layout workflows. The result was a night‑and‑day improvement in accuracy and efficiency: precise pipe locations without “whiskers,” cleaner concrete pours, easier coordination with other trades and more reliable substation modeling—saving time on site and enabling future prefabrication work.
