J.D. Irving is an asset-based transportation and logistics conglomerate whose businesses include fuel supplier RST Transport, diversified trucking operations under Sunbury Transport, and a private railroad. Executives faced the challenge of driving operational excellence across a complex, high-volume portfolio — including a hyper-competitive fuel delivery market that demands 100% on-time service, tight inventory control, and efficient cross-border shipments totaling some 1,500 daily deliveries.

J.D. Irving implemented TMW.Suite (first at RST in 2010, then across Sunbury) to standardize processes and improve visibility. The solution automated inventory management and replenishment using electronic tank readings, integrated telematics and EDI for near real-time data, sped order management and billing, and increased system reliability. The result was better efficiency, operational control, reduced costs and greater customer retention across JDI’s transportation businesses.
