A Trimble Case Study
MTech, a leading Colorado mechanical contractor, served as a specialty contractor on the Trimble Westminster Headquarters project, which was set up as a test bed for BIM-driven, collaborative construction. The challenge was to translate highly detailed 3D models into coordinated, fabricable and installable systems across mechanical, plumbing, electrical and fire trades while avoiding field conflicts and improving layout efficiency.
MTech used Trimble solutions—QuickPen PipeDesigner 3D, Trimble Connected Community, Trimble Point Creator Pro, Trimble Field Link and a robotic total station—to model every component, run clash detection, produce shop/spool sheets and push point data to the field. The result: early detection and resolution of conflicts, faster fabrication and installation (500 point layouts dropped from ~3 weeks to 3 days plus 4 days CAD), 5,600 points installed in 24 days, reduced rework and a comprehensive as-built model delivered to the owner.
