Inova Health System, Northern Virginia’s leading not-for-profit healthcare provider with five hospital campuses, 45 other locations and about one million annual patients, faced major project controls challenges while completing a six-year, $850 million capital improvement program across seven large projects. The team relied on spreadsheets and paper files, struggled to forecast and enforce uniform processes for RFIs/submittals, and spent excessive time generating reports, leading to lost items, late payments and project delays.

Inova implemented e-Builder Enterprise, standardizing workflows, integrating with its Lawson financial system, and enabling real‑time change tracking and approvals. The result: faster coordination and approvals, reduced invoice processing to under three days and payment cycle time to nine days (down from 29), the equivalent of one full-time staff saved, $200,000 saved on printing for a single project and approximately $100 million in overall savings on the $850 million program.
