A Trimble Case Study
Groton Utilities, a publicly owned Connecticut utility serving electric, water, and wastewater to over 38,000 customers (plus an additional 7,000 via a new treatment plant), faced fragmented asset data and inefficient manual processes. Relying on spreadsheets and separate databases created silos that made it hard to track infrastructure, control costs, and make informed maintenance and investment decisions.
To address this, Groton implemented an integrated enterprise asset management solution—Trimble Cityworks with Trimble Unity RM, Telog IoT devices, and Esri ArcGIS—over a multi‑year rollout with partner KCI. The GIS‑centric, mobile-enabled platform delivers real‑time asset data across departments, speeding lab reporting from hours to minutes, improving maintenance planning and budgeting, reducing rework and outstanding work orders, and boosting overall productivity and asset lifecycle visibility.
