How Trimble tools made GA Smart Building work with BIM

GA Smart Building is a turnkey developer and manufacturer of off‑site tertiary buildings and housing, combining real estate development, general contracting and design/manufacture/maintenance. Their key challenge was delivering high‑quality, highly finished buildings on time and on budget while reducing on‑site nuisance and carbon impact — and doing so required centralizing disparate BIM data so models could be read and used by project managers, site teams and non‑BIM experts.

GA Smart Building adopted Tekla Structures and Trimble Connect for their open connectivity and centralized model coordination, backed by internal training for 250–300 staff. The result: Trimble tools are used on ~90% of projects, enabling better interdisciplinary communication, faster visibility of changes, fewer design errors and reduced design increments; adoption is now widespread (around 95%), and the teams are expanding use into carbon assessment, augmented reality and 3D scanning.
