A Trimble Case Study
Land Life Company, based in Amsterdam, restores landscapes degraded by wildfire, desertification, agriculture and urbanization, having planted nearly 1.3 million trees across five continents with a goal to restore two billion hectares. The organization faced a scalable monitoring challenge: tracking thousands of nearly identical saplings accurately and efficiently (previously done with QR tags and manual scanning) to ensure high survival rates and keep planting costs under control.
Land Life integrated Trimble R1 and Trimble Catalyst GNSS positioning into its existing smartphone apps and BYOD workflows to get sub-meter to centimeter accuracy with minimal training. The result: monitoring productivity increased roughly fourfold (one person can now check ~1,000 trees in a day), planting layouts are far more precise, and data-driven adjustments to treatments and watering have improved survival rates and reduced cost per successful tree.
