Case Study: Land Info Worldwide Mapping accelerates 5G rollouts with Trimble eCognition

A Trimble Case Study

Preview of the Land Info Worldwide Mapping Case Study

How customized classifications are providing business intelligence in the race for 5G network coverage

Colorado-based Land Info Worldwide Mapping was hired by multiple U.S. telecoms to produce detailed 3D city models supporting 5G rollouts. Carriers needed accurate, up-to-date building footprints, land-cover classifications and tree contours/heights to assess line-of-sight for dense millimeter-wave small-cell deployments.

Using Trimble eCognition with NAIP multispectral imagery, DTM/DSM data and vector layers, Land Info ran three rule sets (100+ processing steps) on eCognition Server to delineate buildings, classify vegetation and extract tree contours and heights, then exported results to ArcGIS. The delivered 3D models — building footprints, vegetation contours and raster classifications — provided precise siting and line-of-sight intelligence that helped carriers optimize small‑cell placement and accelerate 5G rollouts.
