A Trimble Case Study
Rural Community Insurance Services (RCIS), the largest crop insurance provider in the U.S., needed a scalable way to capture accurate, auditable field acreages to meet regulatory requirements, improve pricing accuracy and differentiate its service. With thousands of insured fields and growing demand for precise spatial data, RCIS sought a technology-driven solution that agents could use in the field.
RCIS equipped agents with Trimble GPS receivers and pocket-sized Juno ST handhelds running RCIS’s FieldMap and FarmMaps software, plus two-day training and certification. Agents map field perimeters, upload data to a central FarmMaps database (now over 30 million mapped acres), and share maps and reports with clients—resulting in more accurate acreage measurements, often lower premiums, faster claims processing and rising agent adoption.
