Fire Protection Contractor Simplifies Complex Connections with Robotic Layout Technology

COSCO Fire Protection, a West Coast fire‑protection contractor with more than 50 years’ experience, faced a difficult expansion project for a global theme‑park operator in California: fitting life‑safety systems into large, non‑linear structures (including a life‑size castle) with thousands of sprinkler heads, anchors and sleeves where traditional tape‑measure layout was slow and error‑prone.

The firm adopted a 3D BIM workflow and Trimble technology—HydraCAD/AutoCAD-Revit models, Trimble Field Points, Trimble Field Link, Yuma tablets and a Trimble RTS robotic total station—to transfer coordinated layout points directly to the jobsite. The result was one‑person, highly accurate staking and installation (including seismic provisions) with faster field work, fewer conflicts and reliably precise installations across complex structures.
