A Trimble Case Study
The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) needed to modernize its pavement management program to save time and money while hitting performance targets across a large and complex network (about 14,000 lane miles, toll lanes, bridges, and other assets). Key challenges included reconfiguring engineering decision-making to leverage automated data collection, converting raw distress data into usable deterioration indices, developing performance models and decision trees, integrating with legacy systems, and training staff.
DelDOT implemented AgileAssets Pavement Analyst as the core pavement management system, covering distress-data conversion, treatment and decision-tree development, performance models, network configuration, reporting, system implementation, and staff training. The solution improved confidence in projected network budgets, produced actionable treatment recommendations from field data, enabled optimization to meet FAST Act requirements, and strengthened both strategic planning and day-to-day operations—earning DelDOT an AXIAM award nomination.
