A Trimble Case Study
Enedis, the Paris-based operator of France’s electric distribution network, manages more than 1.4 million kilometers of lines—including over 10,000 km of underground cables in Paris—and must minimize response time for field interventions. Locating unseen underground lines with paper or tablet maps and smartphone GPS was time-consuming and insufficiently accurate, slowing repairs and excavation work.
Working with AR developer XXII, Enedis integrated Trimble Catalyst and Trimble Mobile Manager with an Android app and Microsoft HoloLens to deliver real‑time, helmet‑compatible augmented reality views of underground cables. The Trimble solution provides 2–8 cm GNSS accuracy to the HoloLens via Bluetooth without changing the app, cutting intervention time by about 25% in tests and offering potential savings of 50% or more.
