Advanced Smart Mobility, a venture formed with the University of Tokyo, is developing autonomous buses and trucks to address Japan’s severe driver shortage and create a smart public transportation system that works in urban, suburban and mountainous regions. For this R&D effort the company needed reliable, high‑accuracy vehicular localization that performs 24/7 in all environments and weather conditions.

To meet that need ASM selected Trimble’s precision GNSS + inertial positioning solutions—BX940 enclosures with BD940‑INS and Zephyr 3 Rover antennas, leveraging RTK with VRS and network services—for seamless integration and robust real‑time positioning.
