Elenia, Finland’s second-largest distribution system operator serving about 425,000 customers across 100+ municipalities, faced frequent MV/HV outages from thunderstorms, fallen trees and excavation incidents. The utility needed transparent, real-time coordination between the control room, field crews and customers to speed restoration, reduce manual calls and maintain accurate outage records and KPIs.

Elenia implemented an integrated outage-management stack—SCADA feeding a DMS with automated FLISR and fault-location algorithms, plus the Utility To Go mobile app for field crews and automated customer messaging (SMS/email/IVR/online map). The result: faster isolation and dispatch, end-to-end situational awareness and automated reporting, with 98% of customer contacts handled without phone calls and about a 50% reduction in overall call volume.
