DPR Construction Sees Added Value Using Trimble WinEst and Modelogix in Estimating Process

DPR Construction, a multibillion-dollar national general contractor that specializes in technically complex projects, outgrew its legacy estimating tools and needed a single, data-driven platform to make better use of project data, cost history and trends across its regional offices and 350 estimators and project managers. The challenge was to standardize estimating processes, capture institutional knowledge, and speed preconstruction decision-making without disrupting workflow.

DPR standardized on Trimble WinEst and Trimble Modelogix, built a centralized cost database, ran a phased rollout with regional champions and training, and worked closely with Trimble for configuration and support. The result: a unified estimating platform that saved an estimated 8–10 hours of manual data entry per project, reduced conceptual estimating from days to minutes (about 30 minutes), improved use of historical cost intelligence to inform early-stage decisions and win work, and enabled expansion into model-based estimating.
