DCAM Improves its Processes, Communication and Budget Control with Prolog® Software

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts Division of Capital Asset Management (DCAM) oversees public building design, construction, maintenance and real estate, managing hundreds of leases and roughly $320M in projects annually. When the state upgraded its accounting system in 2003, DCAM needed a modern, self-hosted project management solution that would integrate with accounting, centralize disparate systems, improve communications and give tighter budget control across hundreds of active projects.

DCAM implemented Meridian Systems’ Prolog Manager and Prolog WebSite with support from channel partner PSS, migrated legacy data (initially ~425 active jobs) and built interfaces to the state accounting system and other tools. The result: all project data centralized, faster processes (tasks that took a week now take 1–2 days), instant document sharing and contractor collaboration via the web, improved budget visibility across ~1,100 projects and full staff adoption—delivering measurable ROI and enabling projects like the $147.3M John Adams Courthouse to finish on time and on budget.
