A Trimble Case Study
Construcarr, a leading Mexican highway and asphalt contractor, took on the four‑lane Guadalajara–Colima highway expansion and faced the challenge of meeting tight schedules and high accuracy requirements using traditional staking and grading methods that are time‑ and labor‑intensive. To improve productivity and quality on this strategically important project, the company sought a machine‑control solution that would reduce surveying work and speed up fine grading.
Working with SITECH de Occidente, Construcarr installed Trimble’s GCS900 3D Grade Control (with Universal Total Station and Business Center‑HCE data prep) on two motor graders. The system eliminated much staking, achieved twice the accuracy (about ±5 mm), cut surveying time by 40 minutes per 100 m, reduced fine‑grading time by 40%, lowered machine run time 6% and fuel use ~8%, and enabled the project to finish about 23% faster while requiring two fewer field crew members.
