A Trimble Case Study
Trimble worked with the City of Lahti to digitize its master planning process and address the challenge of making planning more efficient, transparent and participatory. The city needed a way to gather and preserve citizen feedback, integrate multiple geographic data sets (traffic, cultural sites, wildlife habitats, service networks) and present planning guidelines clearly to decision‑makers and residents.
Using Trimble Locus GIS and the Trimble Feedback application, Lahti moved its master plan online so citizens and specialists can submit input, superimpose diverse data layers, and view results publicly on the city website. The solution streamlined operations, ensured feedback is saved and treated alongside expert knowledge, increased electronic participation, and improved the city’s ability to make informed, forward‑looking planning decisions.
