Chilean Tunneling Leveraging Innovative Geospatial Tech

GEOCOM has partnered with tunneling customers across Chile who needed to improve survey accuracy, quality control, and field decision-making in difficult underground environments. Using Trimble geospatial tools such as the SX12 scanning total station, X7 laser scanner, Trimble Access, Trimble Connect, and Trimble Business Center, the teams faced challenges like GNSS-devoid conditions, limited survey control, and the need to compare as-built conditions with design models in real time.

Trimble helped GEOCOM’s customers capture precise point clouds, establish survey networks, and review BIM/IFC models on site to detect deviations earlier and reduce rework. The results included faster inspections, more accurate as-builts, better shotcrete verification, and smoother project coordination, with outcomes such as timely decisions, improved safety and efficiency, and reduced risk of delays and cost overruns.
