Brent Scarbrough & Co. Saves Big on Survey and Staking Costs with 3D Machine Control and Site Positioning from Trimble

Brent Scarbrough & Co., a Fayetteville, Georgia site-development contractor specializing in clearing, grading and full turnkey utility work across the Southeast, wanted to speed grading, improve accuracy and cut its reliance on costly survey crews and manual staking. Faced with complex superelevation and drainage grades and the delays and rework that come from traditional staking and topo surveys, the company needed a way to keep projects moving and maintain owner confidence in results.

The firm deployed Trimble Site Positioning Systems and Trimble 3D machine control (GCS900 on nearly 30 dozers and several motor graders, plus SPS930/SPS850 base and Business Center – HCE/SCS900 software). The result: crews operate about three times faster, eliminate frequent stake resets and survey waits, reduce rework and fuel use, and more accurately document material movement—boosting profitability and owner trust—while preparing to add UAV-based mapping for even better progress tracking.
