Boyé Geometre is a 30-year-old surveying firm based in Branne, France, that faced erosion of its market leadership as competitors adopted modern geospatial technologies. To remain competitive the firm needed to produce highly detailed 2D deliverables for traditional clients and develop state‑of‑the‑art 3D/BIM products, but initial investments in laser scanning exposed skills gaps—post‑processing point clouds took too long and delayed deliveries.
The company revamped its workflow by adding a Trimble TX8 scanner (after earlier using a TX5), Trimble RealWorks software and SketchUp, and training staff in point‑cloud registration and model creation. The integrated solution sped field capture, simplified large‑data processing, enabled fast extraction of 2D plans from 3D models and produced BIM‑quality deliverables. Results included shorter delivery times, higher productivity, quick ROI and renewed competitive advantage on complex surveys.
