Boston College Uses Prolog® Software to Eliminate Budget Surprises on 10-Year, $1.6B Master Plan, Expansion Program

Boston College, a long-established Jesuit university with more than 14,000 students, launched a 10-year Institutional Master Plan to expand and renovate its campus. Managing hundreds of millions in new construction and renovation work exposed deficiencies in its existing FileMaker Pro–based budget controls and a time-consuming, error-prone process of re-entering invoice data into PeopleSoft, creating a risk of “budget surprises” across projects.

BC deployed Prolog with support and training from PSS Consulting, standardizing budget management for all major projects and giving project managers real‑time visibility of commitments, potential change orders and line-item impacts. The result: clearer, day-to-day control of project budgets, fewer surprises, improved decision-making, and a planned Prolog–PeopleSoft integration to eliminate manual data entry and reduce errors.
