A Trimble Case Study
Kirchheim-based infrastructure contractor Bickhardt Bau was hired for the massive Stuttgart 21 rail project to load and transport about 8 million tons of excavation waste. The team had to meet strict weight limits (trainstops at 1,440 t and each container at 27 t) while maximizing load sizes and daily throughput across multiple sites.
Bickhardt Bau fitted Trimble LOADRITE X2350 excavator and L2180 wheel-loader scales to provide dynamic, in-cab weight readings (≈3% accuracy on excavators, ≈1% on loaders), plus remote data and ticketing. The system kept loads within limits, reduced risk of fines and damage claims with documented proof of payload, and materially increased loading speed and overall productivity.
