AutoZone - Customer Case Study

AutoZone, a national automotive parts retailer operating about 360 trucks, 800 trailers and over 450 drivers that service 5,000 stores from 10 distribution centers, was struggling with fleet maintenance tracking. Their previous, building-maintenance solution lacked trucking-specific detail, produced poor recordkeeping and reporting, mismanaged inventory, and forced manual data entry that hid true repair and cost visibility across eight maintenance facilities.

AutoZone implemented Trimble’s web-based TMT Fleet Maintenance (SaaS) with features like the Interactive Workstation and Shop Planner, and integrated it with Trimble’s PeopleNet to automate PM intervals. The result was faster implementation, better shop efficiency and accuracy, increased vehicle uptime, clearer repair-history and cost-per-mile reporting, and improved preventive-maintenance accuracy (from ~90% to ~95%), enabling smarter asset replacement and reduced paperwork.
