Case Study: Smith Roberts Baldischwiler, LLC achieves faster, more confident stakeouts and reduced rework with Trimble SiteVision

A Trimble Case Study

Augmented reality helps survey crews ensure designs fit the site and are staked correctly.

Smith Roberts Baldischwiler, LLC (SRB), an Oklahoma City survey and consulting firm, faced the common challenge of verifying that 2D designs fit real sites and that stakeouts were accurate before construction. Visualizing planned roads, sidewalks and right-of-way changes from traditional plans often left undiscovered conflicts that could lead to costly rework, repeated site visits and unclear communication with landowners and contractors.

SRB adopted Trimble SiteVision, an AR system that overlays precise 3D models onto live site imagery using GNSS-equipped Android devices. Crews use it during staking to confirm curb lines and offsets, capture video evidence of correct stake placement, and show landowners proposed changes non-invasively. The result: faster, more confident quality control, fewer engineer visits and disputes, and reduced risk, cost and rework on projects.
