A Trimble Case Study
Auckland Motorway Alliance (AMA), created by the New Zealand Transport Agency to manage roughly 300 km of Auckland’s motorway network, was struggling with an outdated, paper-based asset-management process. Manual vegetation surveys and offline data entry were slow, error-prone and inefficient—especially given the agency’s need to use public funds cost‑effectively.
AMA worked with Trimble to deploy Juno SB handhelds with TerraSync and GPS Pathfinder Office, using a custom data dictionary and GeoJPG maps so field ecologists could capture GPS‑tagged observations and photos. The automated workflow improved data accuracy, cut more than 30 man‑hours per week, enabled better GIS-driven planning and budgeting, and is now being expanded to other assets.
