Arden Engineering Constructors HVAC Mechanical Systems Project Use Trimble Tx6 Scanner & Realworks Office

Arden Engineering Constructors, Rhode Island’s largest mechanical contractor, faced a rise in renovation and retrofit MEP/HVAC projects that required fast, accurate as-built spatial data. Manual measurement methods were slow and error-prone, so the company looked to modern scanning technology to capture precise site conditions and support BIM-enabled prefabrication and design workflows.

Arden adopted the Trimble TX6 3D laser scanner and Trimble RealWorks software to collect and process point clouds, integrating outputs into Revit, SysQue and Navisworks. The result: almost 90% labor savings in the field (a biopharma scan that would have taken ~32 man-hours was completed by one person in ~4 hours), each high-speed scan in ~5–6 minutes with <2 mm accuracy at 80 m, an estimated payback after ~4 projects, and that accurate as-built data helped secure follow-on project phases.
