Case Study: Smith Roberts Baldischwiler, LLC achieves faster, safer, highly detailed 3D site surveys with Trimble SX10 Scanning Total Station

A Trimble Case Study

Preview of the Smith Roberts Baldischwiler, LLC Case Study

An Oklahoma company uses 3D scanning to increase value and flexibility for its clients

Smith Roberts Baldischwiler, LLC (SRB), a surveying and engineering firm in Oklahoma City, was contracted to assess serious erosion that damaged stormwater controls and exposed utilities in the Thornberry Place subdivision. The site’s mix of natural and manmade debris and the hazardous conditions made traditional point-by-point surveying slow and inadequate for classifying materials and defining the true ground surface.

SRB bought a Trimble SX10 Scanning Total Station and used Trimble Business Center to combine scanned point clouds with conventional survey points. The crew captured the entire site in about half a day, produced RGB-classified 3D models for engineers, and exported data to civil design software. The workflow cut field time by roughly one-third, reduced revisits, streamlined office processing, and improved SRB’s DesignReady® services by delivering clearer, more actionable 3D information to stakeholders.
