Accelerates Shop Production and Reduces Material Waste with Trimble’s FabShop

ACP Sheet Metal is an Oklahoma City–based fabricator, run by Nathan Dills, that designs, fabricates and installs ductwork for large commercial and industrial projects and provides BIM coordination and 3D drafting services. Facing the need to take on more complex jobs, the company sought faster, more accurate cutting, better interoperability between design and fabrication tools, and reduced material handling and waste.

ACP implemented an integrated Trimble workflow—DuctDesigner 3D for detailing, AutoBid for estimating, and Trimble FabShop CAM—paired with Mestek coil line, plasma and waterjet cutting systems. The seamless digital-to-machine process eliminated manual data entry, sped estimating (about twice as fast), and cut labor and sheet handling; ACP reports roughly 60–70% less material waste, a faster, safer shop with a 24-month ROI on the new plasma system, and overall higher productivity and cost-effectiveness.
