A Spotlight on the Holcim Bohle Quarry

Holcim’s Bohle Quarry (supplying Townsville Ringroad Section Four) faced a major logistics challenge: the TRR4 alignment required 100% imported fill from local quarries, so Seymour Whyte and its suppliers needed constant, cross‑site visibility of extraction, haulage and placement to meet tight productivity targets. Traditional weighbridge and paper‑docket methods could not scale for the volume and pace required, making faster, real‑time tracking essential to win and deliver the contract.

SITECH implemented a Trimble Connected Site with Legal‑for‑Trade Loadrite weighing on loaders, Trimble GPS telematics on loaders and trucks, and cloud reporting (InsightHQ/VisionLink). Bypassing the weighbridge saved about three minutes per truck trip and provided live visibility on any device. The result: uninterrupted supply to TRR4, a fourfold productivity increase (from 300,000 tonnes in three months to 1.2 million tonnes in the next three), and a peak day of 15,600 tonnes (≈488 loads).
