A Trimble Case Study
All Traffic Data Services (ATD), a Denver-based traffic data collection firm, was hired by Denver’s Department of Transportation & Infrastructure to inventory bus stop amenities across roughly 3,000 stops and 1,750 miles. The scale made traditional site-by-site photo collection impractical, so ATD and consulting partner Felsburg Holt & Ullevig needed a faster, safer way to capture accurate, geo-referenced imagery for integration into the city’s GIS.
ATD deployed the Trimble MX7 mobile imaging system with Applanix POSPac MMS and Trimble Business Center, processed imagery through Mapillary and ArcGIS, and delivered an attributed ESRI geodatabase. The team captured all 3,000 stops in about 100 hours (versus an estimated 400 hours manually), produced high-accuracy, geo-referenced images and snapshots embedded in the geodatabase, and improved safety by collecting data at normal traffic speeds—making the MX7 a new go-to solution for visual asset management.
