Case Study: BDS VirCon achieves precise BIM-driven fabrication and construction success with Trimble

A Trimble Case Study

Fondation Louis Vuitton A dream come constructable

BDS VirCon was contracted by Eiffage Construction Métallique to detail complex stainless steel mullions, glulam timber beams, glazing fixing plates, the main frame, and locating base frames for the Fondation Louis Vuitton museum near Paris. The challenge was the building’s highly unique geometry, with curved glass sails and no traditional drawings available for most of the project—requiring a comprehensive BIM approach using Trimble Tekla Structures.

Trimble helped BDS VirCon import and work with 3D design data through IFC and Tekla Structures, producing fabrication drawings, CAM files, and 3D models for setting out and quality control. The result was highly automated fabrication and tighter tolerance control across steel, timber, and node components, enabling efficient collaboration between project teams and contributing to the museum’s successful delivery and award-winning BIM execution.
