Finnforest Modular Office was detailed and built utilizing Tekla’s advanced 3D design and modeling technique

WSP Finland, the structural designer for Finnforest Modular Office in Tapiola, Finland, faced the challenge of engineering Europe’s tallest wooden office building, a complex 5-storey, 13,000-square-meter project with thousands of prefabricated timber parts plus steel and concrete elements. Using Trimble’s Tekla Structures, WSP had to model an unfamiliar wood structure accurately while coordinating multiple subcontractors and offices.

Trimble’s Tekla Structures 3D BIM solution enabled WSP to detail the building, share data across teams, and produce part, assembly, and DXF drawings from a single model. The result was significantly fewer errors, improved build quality versus 2D design, and smooth site execution with no reported onsite problems, while helping deliver a landmark office building that proved the competitiveness of wood construction.
