Esskay & Tekla Structures help build Chicago’s award winning Pedestrian Bridge

Esskay Structures, an ISO-certified steel detailing services provider, faced the challenge of detailing Chicago’s award-winning 41st Street Pedestrian Bridge, a geometrically complex structure with reverse curves, inclined arches, and difficult hanger and shipping requirements. The company used Trimble’s Tekla Structures to model the bridge accurately and coordinate the design and fabrication process.

With Trimble’s Tekla Structures, Esskay Structures imported bridge geometry, created custom profiles and poly beams, managed work planes and rotations, and produced fabrication-ready drawings and subassemblies. The solution supported BIM coordination, LiDAR scanning verification, and shop pre-assembly, helping ensure quarter-inch tolerances and smooth field fit-up for the 750-foot bridge.
