Case Study: Billington Structures achieves safer, more efficient delivery at Skelton Grange EfW with Trimble

A Trimble Case Study

Preview of the Billington Structures Case Study

Building a more sustainable future, at Skelton Grange EFW

Billington Structures faced the complexity of delivering the Skelton Grange Energy from Waste project in South Leeds, including challenging steelwork geometry, 24-hour crane fatigue demands, and coordination with multiple trades and process equipment. Using Trimble products such as Tekla Structures and Trimble Connect, the team needed a way to manage detailed design, temporary works, lift planning, and model coordination on a project of major scale.

Trimble helped Billington Structures digitally model the steel frame in 3D, detect clashes early, plan modular assemblies, and share the latest model data across the project team. This improved fabrication and installation workflows, reduced errors, and boosted productivity, while also supporting safer construction with less work at height. The project’s strong coordination and planning contributed to Billington Structures winning the 2024 UK Tekla Awards’ Industrial Project category.
