Gardens at the Bay - Use truly constructible information to speed up the fabrication process

TTJ Design and Engineering, the Singapore steelwork contractor for the Gardens by the Bay Supertrees project, faced the challenge of fabricating highly complex curved steel structures with thin members and intricate canopy geometries. To handle the demanding design and detailing work, TTJ relied on Trimble’s Tekla BIM software to create construction-ready drawings and shop details.

Trimble’s Tekla software helped TTJ quickly model each tree, automatically update changes, and generate detailed fabrication drawings and 3D models for the workshop and site teams. TTJ said modeling each tree took about 1.5 months with Tekla, versus three times longer with ordinary CAD, helping speed fabrication and support the successful delivery of the 18 Supertrees.
