Case Study: Simetría achieves precise 3D surveys and measurable stadium repair costs with Trimble

A Trimble Case Study

3D imaging proves its worth in preparing to repair a Spanish soccer stadium

Simetría Gestión, a local architecture‑engineering firm, was hired by the Oviedo city council to assess damage at the Carlos Tartiere stadium in Oviedo, Spain. The 30,000‑seat reinforced‑concrete stadium suffered water leaks, rusted beams and seats and suspected deformation, and the council needed a precise, reliable appraisal of what was affected, to what degree, and what repairs would cost.

Using a Trimble X7 scanner with Trimble Perspective and RealWorks, Simetría completed 44 setups in five hours, capturing 80 million points and producing a 3 mm‑accurate, color‑coded 3D model that identified 140 roof beams needing attention and revealed previously unknown deformation. The point cloud, photos and named‑beam model provided measurable, calculable repair estimates, enabled a targeted refurbishment plan and paved the way for a stadium digital twin—while dramatically reducing field time and improving survey precision.
