Case Study: Taziker achieves error-free automated roller-coaster track replacement with Trimble

A Trimble Case Study

Preview of the Taziker Case Study

How BIM keeps the UK’s biggest roller-coaster running

Taziker, the UK engineering firm responsible for annual track replacements on Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s The Big One roller-coaster, needed a more accurate way to refurbish worn sections and avoid fit issues caused by manual measurement. Using Trimble point-cloud scanning and BIM workflows, Taziker captured the existing track geometry and modeled it in Tekla Structures to recreate the original profile precisely.

Trimble’s Trimble SX10 and Trimble X7 helped Taziker automate modeling and fabrication, with data flowing from point clouds into Tekla and then to shop-floor laser verification. The result was faster, more precise production with modeling time cut by at least 50%, fabrication held to plus or minus 2 millimeters, and smoother, stronger track sections installed without affecting the park’s peak-season revenue.
