Case Study: Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency achieves major time and cost savings with Trimble

A Trimble Case Study

Preview of the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency Case Study

Highway 4 in Finland is a fully model-based project with 29 bridges

The Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency faced a major challenge on the Kirri-Tikkakoski Road project on Highway 4 in Finland, one of the country’s largest infrastructure contracts. The project included 29 bridges and extensive roadworks, and the agency needed a way to manage the scale and complexity while keeping design, approvals, and construction coordinated. Trimble was used with Tekla Structures and Trimble Connect to support a fully BIM-based approach.

Trimble helped deliver a model-based workflow where all bridge information, inspections, approvals, and quality documentation were managed in the model and shared through Trimble Connect. This reduced design errors, sped up approvals, and improved construction efficiency; the BIM-based process cut about 20 working weeks from the timeline, saved roughly EUR 150,000 in design and up to EUR 1.5 million during construction, and generated about 10% savings across the supply chain.
