A Trimble Case Study
Hollingsworth Pack, a family-owned structural engineering and construction consulting firm, needed a better way to produce consistent calculations, bridge documentation, and code-compliant designs for complex projects across private and federal work. The company turned to Trimble’s Tekla Tedds and later Tekla Structural Designer to help manage repetitive structural calculations, custom load checks, and 3D analysis for buildings in challenging environments.
With Trimble’s Tekla tools, Hollingsworth Pack streamlined documentation in Microsoft Word, verified calculations against multiple code sets, and improved confidence in designs for projects like the Niamey Prison and a dormitory retrofit at Thule Air Force Base. The software revealed more conservative beam loading assumptions and showed that seismic upgrades could be limited to 80 beam-to-column connections on one floor, saving the client literally millions of dollars and helping make the renovation feasible.
