Edificio Vivo transforming lives in a congested city

Aceros Arquitectónicos, a Central American engineering and construction company, faced the challenge of detailing, fabricating, and erecting complex steel work accurately for Edificio Vivo 4, a mixed-use project in Guatemala City. To compete effectively and control costs, the company relied on Trimble’s Tekla Structures to turn 2D drawings into a constructible BIM model and verify material quantities before fabrication.

Trimble’s Tekla Structures helped Aceros Arquitectónicos improve modeling accuracy, reduce steel waste, speed up detailing and fabrication, and collaborate more efficiently across teams and stakeholders. The impact was significant: the company said it grew from a 3,000-tons-per-year operation to about 12,000 tons per month and can now handle 30 to 40 projects in its shop.
