The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB) is a major academic health center with hospitals across four campuses and a large capital program managing about 100 projects and 2,200 work requests annually. UTMB struggled with a decentralized document system (Excel files and individual drives), limited and slow approval workflows, inconsistent reporting, and inefficient processes that wasted time and obscured project visibility.

In 2016 UTMB implemented e-Builder Enterprise integrated with PeopleSoft and a standardized work breakdown structure, and brought contractors and architects into the unified workflow. The change centralized documents, sped invoicing and approvals (invoices now process in weeks rather than months and change orders can be approved within a day), improved reporting confidence, and helped more projects finish under budget and ahead of schedule.
