Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) is a multi-institutional Catholic healthcare network with 15 hospitals and more than 225 physician practice sites serving about 2.6 million people in Illinois and Wisconsin. Facing rapid growth—$32 million in recent facility investments and roughly $100 million in annual construction—HSHS struggled with weak document management, slow approval cycles (change orders took 6–8 weeks), reliance on spreadsheets, email and paper, and an unfavorable audit that characterized their multimillion-dollar program as being run like a $100,000 project.

HSHS deployed e-Builder Enterprise, using its Documents module as a central repository and migrating every project from concept through budgeting, design, construction and handover within the system. The centralized platform virtually eliminated paper mailing and printing, sped change orders from 6–8 weeks to less than a week (often one day), improved collaboration and version control, and helped earn industry recognition (AHA “Most Wired”), while delivering measurable time and cost savings.
