Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) is a multi-institutional Catholic healthcare network of 15 hospitals and over 225 physician practice sites serving 2.6 million people across Illinois and Wisconsin. Rapid growth and roughly $100M in annual construction spending exposed weaknesses in HSHS’s legacy processes—reliance on spreadsheets, email and paper led auditors to flag poor documentation, long approval cycles and change orders that took 6–8 weeks to complete.

HSHS implemented and customized the e-Builder Enterprise Documents module in 2017, rolling projects into a single, cloud-based repository and onboarding internal and external users quickly. As a result, approvals and change orders now complete in days (sometimes one day), hard-copy printing and mail costs have been virtually eliminated, and project documents are accessible, version-controlled and centrally managed — with plans to integrate financial systems next.
