A Trimble e-Builder Case Study
Groton Utilities, a publicly owned provider of electric, water, and wastewater services in southeastern Connecticut serving more than 38,000 customers and large local businesses, struggled with fragmented asset data and manual processes. Relying on spreadsheets and separate databases left data in silos, made it difficult to track infrastructure, control costs, and make informed maintenance and investment decisions.
To address this, Groton implemented Trimble Cityworks enterprise asset management integrated with Trimble Unity RM, Telog IoT devices and Esri ArcGIS, supported by implementation partner KCI in a phased rollout across water, sewer, and electric. The unified platform delivers real-time, mobile-accessible asset data, drastically speeds lab reporting, improves maintenance scheduling and budgeting, reduces rework and outstanding work orders, and enables smarter long-term asset replacement and operational decisions.
