A Trimble e-Builder Case Study
Cumberland Farms, a family-owned convenience store and gas chain founded in 1939 with about 600 locations across eight states, manages roughly 40 capital projects a year as it modernizes legacy stores and introduces larger concept stores focused on food and drink. Their capital program was hampered by an inefficient, paper-driven approval process, poor version control for post-project audits, invoice delays and difficulty tracking costs and progress—creating approval holdups that threatened their growth plan.
In 2011 Cumberland Farms implemented e-Builder’s cloud-based project management solution, establishing a centralized document repository with standardized naming, configured electronic contract workflows and mobile access for field managers. The system eliminated mailing and emailing of contracts, shortened approval cycles, improved document control and enabled real-time tracking from concept to construction—reducing delays and supporting ongoing modernization and expanded PMIS adoption.
